Crew 1143 is a Venturing Crew located in Rice Lake, Wisconsin in the Blue Hills District of the Chippewa Valley Council Boy Scouts of America. Our Crew was founded in 2014 making us the second Venturing Crew in our Council. 

 

Boys and Girls age 14 (or 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade) through age 20 are eligible to join. We offer every youth who comes into our crew the chance to have fun while learning skills and experiencing personal growth that will last a lifetime. Our objective is that all youth participating in our crew feel they have had a challenging, rewarding and enjoyable experience. It is our philosophy that every crew has their own specialties. In regards to our crew, we specialize in activites such as climbing, ziplining, shooting sports and kayaking.  

 

Youth-led Crew: Mentored by adult advisors, crew members choose and plan for all outings, and social events.

Journey to Excellence: We consistently achieve the JTE Gold Unit status.

 

Outdoor Adventure Outings: 10 months of the year: Generally hiking, climbing, kayaking and shooting sports,The choice of outing is made by the youth. Most outings include camping.

Awards: Boys and girls who are already in a scouting program are welcome to stay in that program and also do Venturers.

• Boys who are in a troop can do both the troop and crew or, after completing first class with the troop, continue working toward Eagle with the crew.

• Girls who are in Girl Scouts, can continue with their troops and earn Girl Scout awards.

• There are also Venturing Awards that crew members can earn: Ranger and the Summit Series. We will happily support and provide help to any youth who wants to earn these awards.
